Theme Switcher Pro Glossary

This Theme Switcher Pro Glossary provides quick reference to commonly used terms.

add-on (adjective and noun) and add on (verb).

admin: Refers to person with this user status for a website/store.

plugin: Software that can be installed and turned on/off (plugged in), such as WooCommerce.

meta boxes

WordPress Admin: Also known as wp-admin, not Dashboard. Only use WordPress Admin > Dashboard if user should go to this location.

WordPress: Capital W, capital P

Active theme: Currently activated WordPress theme.

admin bar: Top bar which shows only for logged in users.

Switching Condition: Condition based on WordPress theme switch to another theme.

Priorities: These are the plugin settings priorities based on WordPress theme switch to another theme.

Filters: A WordPress hook can be used to perform any custom functionality.

Action: A WordPress hook can be used to perform any custom functionality.

Front page Settings tab: This is a settings tab where you can select the theme to be used when a static homepage is assigned under Settings > Reading.

Post type settings tab: This is a settings tab you can select one or more post-types below, to specify which theme is used when that post type is in view on the front-end.

Archive settings tab: This is a settings tab where you can select a taxonomy below, to specify which theme is used when that archive template is in view on the front-end.

Classic Editor settings tab: This is a settings tab where you can select a theme for the classic editor or block editor. This setting tab will only show if ‘Classic Editor’ plugin is installed and activated.

Debug settings tab: This is a settings tab where you can allow access to the Debug Panel that displays the details of the Theme Switcher. Activate the Theme Preview dropdown so that you may instantly preview your posts and pages in different themes.

post-types: All registered post types in site including default ones.

taxonomy: All registered taxonomies in site including default ones.

Debug Panel: Debug panel settings tab.

Theme Preview dropdown:  To instantly preview your posts and pages in different themes by switching the themes from admin bar.

Site Editor: Full Site Editor of WordPress.

Classic Editor Settings: It is a setting tab that is only visible if the Classic Editor plugin has been installed and activated.

Global active theme: This is the theme that is activated by default at Appearance > Themes.
